<p>Nagarkurnool: Workers, who had a narrow escape when the portion of the under-construction SLBC tunnel in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district collapsed, suspect that the engineering staff had taken the water leakage and seepage at the mishap spot lightly.</p><p>They also suspect that the staff didn't scientifically measure the stabilisation process. However, we weren't prepared for such an incident,” a worker on Saturday told DH.</p><p>The missing persons have been identified as Manoj Kumar (Project Engineer—Uttar Pradesh), Sri Niwas (Field Engineer—Uttar Pradesh), Sandeep Sahu (Worker—Jharkhand), Jatax (Worker—Jharkhand), Santosh Sahu (Worker—Jharkhand), Anuj Sahu (Worker—Jharkhand), Sunny Singh (Worker—Jammu & Kashmir), and Gurpreet Singh (Worker—Punjab).</p>.Telangana tunnel collapse: Experts from GSI, NGRI roped in to assess situation.<p>"After the night shift workers left, we took on our duties at 6.45 am after arriving at the location, travelling 14 km in the locomotive for approximately an hour. As we were preparing to begin the work at the Tunnel Boring Machine, the collapse happened. We didn't even begin the work. It all happened suddenly. We were on the other side of the TBM and ran for our lives. I helped a worker struggling to come out of the water and ran for my life,” Phul Chand Sahu from Jharkhand told DH.</p><p>At the time of the mishap, there were around 60 workers. While remaining workers were fortunate enough to escape, eight were suspected to have been trapped in TBM, which has now been seen totally dismantled.</p>
